How the Irish are usually perceived |
In the trip I am hoping to see the real people of these countries. From studying history, I can get a slight idea of where some of their cultural values and norms come from but I will never truly know what these are until I experience first-hand. Like I have said before, I have always had a curiosity about these to cultures and the parts I have heard about I always liked. I am making it my goal to try and talk to as many locals as I can to get a better feel for the real people of the countries and not just what the media shows about them.
I enjoyed your post. When I think about of Ireland, Guinness does come to mind. However, I did a little research and found out that there are three popular brews in Ireland; Guinness, Beamish, and Murphy's. Can't wait to try them. I really don't know enough about Ireland or Scotland. I don't really just see men drinking in pubs or running around in kilts. I can't wait for our trip, because I can't wait to meet new people. I've been watching more of the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson the Scottish born American talk show host. He's pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteOh I really enjoy Craig Ferguson! and I really don't see the Irish and Scottish in this way, just what is portrayed in media. Also, I will try those others with you!
ReplyDeleteI really hope they have Killian's Irish Red and Irish Stout! A pub shall be visited around every free time. I also found out that one of the first instruments ever created were the bagpipes in 140 B.C.E. It shows just how far back these cultures go.
